Effective December 1, 2018, County Transfer Stations will no longer accept for recycling:
#5 (polypropylene), plastic bags, bottle caps, clamshells, tubs, buckets of any number
Only clean #1 and #2 plastic bottles, jars and jugs CAN be recycled in the mixed recyclables bins. Buckets and pots with #1 or #2 are NO longer going to be acceptable. Containers with “necks” are OK. (Plastic bottles marked as HI-5 can still be redeemed for cash. Metal caps and lids can go into mixed recyclables bins.)
County contractor Business Services can no longer find a recycler who will take these plastics.
