When Is This Program Available?
  • August 1: Registration Begins
  • September 17 to November 12: Beach & Waterway Cleanup Events
  • November 26: Deadline for Cleanup Data

How Does This Program Work?

GET THE DRIFT & BAG IT! is Hawaiʻi’s contribution to the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) which started in 1986. Ocean Conservancy’s ICC engages volunteer organizations and individuals to remove trash and debris from the world’s beaches and waterways; to identify the sources of debris, and to change the behaviors that cause marine debris in the first place.
Recycle Hawaii partners with Keep Hawaii Beautiful to coordinate the Cleanups taking place on Hawaii Island. Prior to the event we supply data cards and bags to registered cleanup groups, after the event, we upload collected data from their cleanups onto the International Coastal Cleanup’s Online Data Map. RECYCLE HAWAII IS NOT COORDINATING THIS PROGRAM IN 2018
