August 8, 2017 : KTA Super Stores launches Kokua I Na Kula Program
August 9 – September 19, 2017: Collect Snack Wrappers & Drink Pouches
September 19, 2017: Schools Turn in Wrappers/Pouches to KTA Super Stores
How Does This Program Work?
Step 1: Email email@example.com or call 985-8725, 969-2012 that your school is registered for Kokua I Na Kula and will hold a snack wrapper recycling drive.
Step 2: Collect foil lined wrappers made from Mylar and drink pouches from these snack products. Each acceptable empty, clean and dry wrapper or pouch will earn your school one (1) Kokua i Na Kula point. Earned points go towards the school’s cash donation for school improvements and learning materials.
Snack Bags that are foil lined/shiny Mylar from chips, popcorn, pretzels, etc; any brand and size (individual, family-size or multipack).
Energy, Granola, Protein Bar Wrappers that are foil lined/shiny Mylar of any brand.
Aluminum Drink Pouches of any brand. OK to keep straws in, empty out liquid, pack clean and dry.
NOT ACCEPTABLE for donation or points
Candy, cookie, chocolate or other snack wrappers.
PARTICIPATE in Recycle Hawaii’s Kokua I Na Kula Recycling/Upcycling Drive!
Step 3: Fill out Kokua I Na Kula Community Service Informational Form or print the information clearly on a piece of paper. Your contribution is the total number of wrappers/pouches. Insert form into each box or bag of acceptable wrappers/pouches.

Step 4: Label box or bag with –

Contact Person and Phone Number
Step 5: Take donated wrappers to nearest KTA Super Stores Customer Service Center by store closing on Sept. 19, 2017.
Step 6: Notify Recycle Hawaii with date of your drop off, number of packages and store location.
You’re done – Mahalo for your community service!
Recycle Hawaii will verify donated wrappers for KTA bonus points before shipping them to TerraCycle Inc., a for-profit company based in Trenton, New Jersey for upcycling and recycling into new products.
